Rugged Wood

Rugged Wood

Rugged wood,
Little body laid.
Soft the skin
And rough the place.

Rugged wood,
His hand on lathe.
Satin finish
from splinters pain.

Rugged wood,
His pierced form.
Soft the sigh
But strong the cry.

Rugged wood,
The table spread.
Soft the gasp,
The stranger gone.

Rugged wood,
Crackled warm.
Soft the sand
And bitter grief.

Rugged wood
We shoulder now.
Bright the future,
Worth all cost.

Renewed wood,
A table spread
And new wine shared.
The King is crowned.

Dear readers, I will be taking a posting break until January 10, 2023 when I'll announce a new posting schedule for subscribers. Thank you for reading and worshiping with me through 2022. It's been a good year. And thanks to God, from whom all good gifts come. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Love, Rachel

The Lord your God is in your midst,
  a mighty one who will save;
he will rejoice over you with gladness;
   he will quiet you by his love;
he will exult over you with loud singing (Zephaniah 3:17).
